REMOTE OPERATION TACTICS

‘Remote Operation Tactics’ is the result of a research focused on working with communities within the National Autonomous University of Mexico and was presented in the framework of the exhibition ‘Autorreconstrucción: detritus’ at the Universitary Museum of Arts and Sciences UNAM. The project aims to explore the power dynamics within community practices through the direction of a choral song and the creation of an artificial language.

Through a four-week workshop, the Staccato University Choir and I worked towards creating a unified artificial language to perform a song within the exhibition space. As a result, a series of internal codes mixing a metronome, body language and sign language were developed. The artificial language not only indicated tempo, pitch, and rhythm but also conveyed intensity and emotional qualities typically absent in traditional concert direction.
